The executive departments and the commercial departments are accountable to the Chief Executive Officer. Within the commercial departments, a distinction is made according to market area: Containers, Breakbulk & Logistics and Process Industry and Bulk Goods. The commercial departments are responsible for developing the commercial policy for their own market. In addition, the departments work together with market parties to improve Rotterdam's position as a quality port. In addition to his responsibility for the commercial and executive departments, the Chief Executive Officer is chairman of the Project Board Maasvlakte 2.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for finance and funding, the provision of information, risk management, decision-making and the quality of such decision-making in connection with investments.

The Chief Operational Officer is in charge of the departments responsible for the expansion and maintenance of the port and industrial complex, the facilities departments and the Harbour Master division. This division occupies a special place in the organisational chart. It carries out a large number of public-law tasks which have been delegated to the division by the Dutch State and the municipalities of Rotterdam, Schiedam and Vlaardingen.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) forms an integral part of our operational management and our Business Plan 2011-2015. The Port of Rotterdam Authority does not have a separate CSR department, but the Corporate Strategy department coordinates the efforts and is responsible for the overall coherence.
