Title: Rotterdam Oude Maas Botlekbrug

Introduction: Restricted passage for shipping
1. In the period from Monday 26 September 2011 until Monday 02 January 2017, a new Botlekbrug will be built alongside the existing Botlekbrug. Once this new bridge has been completed, work will start immediately on the demolition of the “old” Botlekbrug.
2. As a rule, the construction work in question will be carried out on normal working days (Monday to Friday) from 06:00 to 20:00.
3. Restricted passage for shipping will be in effect from time to time throughout the entire period, and a harbour patrol boat and/or other designated and appropriately marked auxiliary vessels will be present for this purpose. Shipping must make allowance for the fact that the presence of working vessels and pontoons will cause the fairway at the Botlekbrug to be narrowed. At the site, shipping will be informed about this by the most efficient means possible.
4. In connection with the narrowing of the fairway just beside the existing Botlekbrug, shipping should pass through very carefully and avoid generating excessive wash and/or water suction which might cause problems.
5. Instructions given by the competent authority and/or from the harbour patrol boat on site must be obeyed directly.
6. Further information can be obtained by contacting:
3. Any shipping requiring an opening during the set operating hours, should report to the Botlekbrug Bridge Master at least 1 hour prior to the opening.
During the set operating hours, the Botlekbrug will not be opened for recreational craft.
The set opening times may be altered for vessels with time commitments.
4. Monday to Friday, operating on request from:
24 hours a day.
6. The Bridge Master may deviate from the set opening hours should it appear that a vessel that has already reported, will be unable to meet the fixed opening hours and the volume of road traffic allows for this. This remains at the discretion of the Botlekbrug Bridge Master.
7. Additional information regarding the Botlekbrug's set operating hours can be found on the website www.portofrotterdam.com/Botlekbrug.

Title: Rotterdam Amazonehaven

Introduction: Width of berths of Amazonehaven
The Harbour Master of Rotterdam, in the employ of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, on behalf of the mayor and aldermen of the municipality of Rotterdam;
Taking into consideration that:
the total width which (inland) vessels take up when they are moored alongside moored ships at ECT in the Amazonehaven can obstruct the safety and smooth progress of shipping traffic in the Amazonehaven.
Having regard to:
- Article 4(1), under c, of the Shipping Traffic Act in conjunction with Article 13(1) of the Shipping Traffic (Administrative Provisions) Decree;
- Article 8, in conjunction with Article 7, in conjunction with Article 5, in conjunction with Article 2(1), under a, sub 3 of the Shipping Traffic Act;
- Article 7.05(2) of the Inland Waterways Police Regulations in conjunction with sign E.5.1 (Appendix 7, Inland Waterways Police Regulations).
have decided to adopt:
Announcement with the same meaning as a marine traffic sign, also traffic order: width of berths of Amazonehaven
Article 1
As of Friday 1 February 2013 it is forbidden:
a. to take a berth with a ship or a floating object at a distance greater than a maximum of 80 metres, counting from the mooring line on the northern quay in the Amazonehaven in the port of Rotterdam, between shore site numbers 8157 and 8167 inclusive;
b. to take a berth with a ship or a floating object at a distance greater than a maximum of 60 metres, counting from the mooring line on the northern quay in the Amazonehaven in the port of Rotterdam, between shore site numbers 8144 and 8157 inclusive.
Article 2
The Harbour Master of Rotterdam can grant exemption from the prohibition stated in Article 1. Exemption can be requested from the Harbour Coordination Center of the Harbour Master’s Division (telephone: +31 (0)10 252 10 00 or on VHF Channel 14).
Article 3
This announcement is placed in the Government Gazette and will come into effect on the second day after its publication.
On behalf of the mayor and aldermen,
R.J. de Vries
The Harbour Master of Rotterdam,
State Harbour Master, Rotterdam-Rijnmond region
EXPLANATION
In the recent past, the width which (bunker) ships take up when they are moored alongside moored ships at ECT in the Amazonehaven has resulted a few times in near miss situations between a passing Ultra Large Container Carrier and a moored (bunker) ship. These near-miss situations were the consequence of the available navigation channel not being wide enough for this size of ships.
The Harbour Master of Rotterdam, on behalf of the competent authority, has therefore laid restrictions as of 1 February 2013 on the maximum mooring widths of berths along the northern bank of the Amazonehaven.
Ships, including inland vessels, alongside moored ships in the Amazonehaven, if they exceed the limit of the maximum width totally or partially as a result of the total width, can request a one-time temporary exemption for exceeding the greatest specified width in the Traffic Order via the Harbour Coordination Center (HCC). Such an exemption, based on Article 7(1) of the Shipping Traffic Act, is only granted under condition that instructions in this connection of or on behalf of the Harbour Master of Rotterdam are followed immediately.
This concerns a measure in connection with work on widening the Amazonehaven, in combination with the expected passage of larger ships along the southern side of this port basin. After this work has been completed in mid-May 2014 and the widening of the Amazonehaven is a fact, the measure will be reviewed or if possible, relaxed.
OBJECTION CLAUSE
Interested parties may submit a notice of objection against this decision to the mayor and aldermen within six weeks of the date of dispatch. This notice of objection must be signed and must contain at least:
- name and address of the person lodging the objection;
- date of the notice of objection;
