As from the beginning of this month, the Raillogix operates a train shuttle between Ostrava – Paskov and Rotterdam. The trains are pulled by locomotives of the AWT Group on the Czech section of the route. Transit time is 33 hours and the (Maersk) containers carry diverse cargoes, from electronics to toys to automobile parts. The goods are bound mostly for the Czech Republic, but some are also earmarked for final destinations in southern Poland or Slovakia. Train capacity is 88 TEU.
Ostrava terminal
The Ostrava-Paskov open terminal is one of a limited number of private open terminals in the Czech Republic and as such it is a key focal point for the increasingly important market segment of combined transport via rail and road. The terminal is positioned in a strategically advantageous location in the midst of large industrial zones of the Moravian-Silesian Region. It is also in close proximity to a motorway and it is linked to the national rail network via its own rail siding. The position of the terminal is also advantageous in regard to trans-European transport as it is located on a line that connects seaports on the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Sea coasts. The terminal offers a storage capacity of 1400 TEU and the rail siding consists of nine tracks and it is serviced by two engines 24 hours a day.
