New crane rail terminal ECT

At the Rail Terminal East on the ECT Delta Terminal a brand-new rail crane has been taken into operation, built by Konecranes in Finland. This Rail Mounted Gantry Crane has a span of 32 meteres, a hoist height of 10.5 metres and a capacity of 40 tonnes under the spreader. Its active load control system incorporates anti-sway in all directions and ensures that containers can always be easily manoeuvred into position above the trains.

The new rail crane replaces one of the two old ones that service the four track terminal at the eastern on dock terminal. Besides that, ECT disposes of a westward situated rail terminal with six tracks and two cranes. More on the Delta Terminal and its facilities: The two rail terminals combined handled some 600.000 TEU in 2010.
