Breakbulk & RoRo

Rotterdam has a lot to offer

As Europe’s number 1 port, Rotterdam combines unrivalled access by sea with a multitude of modern facilities, a wide choice of logistics service providers and excellent connections with the hinterland. Rotterdam is the ideal hub, both to and from Europe, for every type of breakbulk cargo: steel, project cargo, non- ferrous metals, paper & other forest products, the automotive sector, fruit, etc.
There are currently 27 breakbulk and RoRo terminals in the port, together handling a total of 25.6 million tonnes in 2008. Each terminal has its own specialities, assuring the port’s clients of service tailored to their needs, with speed, care, professionalism and reliability as key principles. In addition, there is a large variety of related services available around the strategically situated terminals, both for the storage of cargo, its processing and its onward transport to the hinterland.

Unrivalled accessibility
One of Rotterdam’s biggest advantages is its accessibility from the sea. The port is optimally accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, without locks and draught restrictions. In addition, Rotterdam’s situation directly off the North Sea makes for short turnaround times. The port also offers a wide choice of hinterland transport options via rail, inland waterways, road and shortsea shipping, and thereby has a significant advantage over the competition.

The advantages offered by the breakbulk and RoRo companies in Rotterdam in a nutshell:

- Client-oriented
- Customised service
- Quick and reliable
- Optimal care for the cargo
- Wide range of value added services
