Reporting ship’s information and cargo information

Verify whether your ship and/or cargo need to be reported. The reporting of ship’s information and cargo information is compulsory for:  

- ships carrying dangerous and noxious goods;
- ships longer than 110 meters
- combinations longer than 140 meters and wider than 15 meters
- passenger ships
- special transports

Communication
Listening to the marine telephone channel is compulsory.

Rules

  • In addition to the Inland Navigation Police Regulations (BPR) and the ADNR, the Port Bye-Laws Rotterdam and the Port Bye-Laws for Dangerous and Noxious Goods are in force in the port of Rotterdam.     


Berthing

  • Loading, unloading or bunkering in a Petroleumhaven is only permitted under certain circumstances. For more information, please consult the Port Bye-Laws for  Dangerous and Noxious Goods.
  • Tankships carrying dangerous and/or noxious goods are not allowed to berth outside of a petroleum port. 
  • Container ships and ships carrying dangerous and/or noxious general cargo are not allowed to berth near residential areas.    


Cleaning activities

  • The cleaning of tankships is only allowed in petroleum ports or at specially designated berths. Permission needs to be obtained for cleaning activities.       


Repairs

  • In general, it is not permitted to carry out major repairs to your ship in Rotterdam. Exemptions are possible.      


Gassing of cargo and de-gassing of cargo holds

  • Under certain circumstances, permission can be granted for the gassing of cargo and the de-gassing of cargo holds.       


Ship’s waste

  •  Industrial waste and bulky household refuse need to be handed in at the Afval Verwerking Rijnmond (AVR)
  •  Containers for household refuse are present at public berths.
  •  Cargo waste (dry and liquid cargo) must be handed in at a license-holder.
