05-15-2008
Schenker centre Western Ports – Eastern EuropeOn 26 April, Schenker opened a 40,000m2 trimodal terminal in Duisburg. It is geared particularly towards the corridor linking Eastern Europe and Rotterdam and the other westerly North Sea ports.
It is based on the assumption that the numbers of containers transported to and from the western ports by inland shipping will increase. Connecting transport by rail will also be handled at the multimodal Logport terminal in Rheinhausen. The Schenker centre built here required an investment of € 10.5 million. 23,000 m2 of land is available for expansion.
