Annual report 2007

Our mission is to be working in partnership to develop Rotterdam as the leading world-class European port. This annual report describes how we put this into practice in 2007. In addition to the Annual Accounts, you will find a detailed overview of the developments at the Port Authority and in the port. Throughput rose to a record level of 407 million tonnes. This means that during the past 5 years average growth has been 5.5%. An achievement the business community can be proud of, certainly since this growth has been achieved within the existing physical space.

2007 was a good year for the port of Rotterdam and the Port Authority.

The net result of the Port Authority rose in 2006 from € 92 million (normalized) to € 114 million in 2007. The financial position of the Port Authority is also showing a positive development, and this is important to continue financing the substantial investments at favorable conditions. Both our shareholders and customers will benefit from this. The Port Authority invests some € 250 million each year in the existing port area. During the coming years there will also be the additional investment of some € 3 billion in Maasvlakte 2.
