Havenziekenhuis (Port Hospital)
The Port Hospital is unique in the Netherlands. It is the first port hospital with special arrangements for the accommodation of seamen of all ranks and nationalities. The clinical observation and treatment as well as the outpatients department can rely on almost all forms of medical specialist care provided by foremost practitioners in their field. The staff speak many foreign languages and the hospital is the only one in Rotterdam to have specialists in tropical medicine on the staff.

The Municipal Public Health Services Rotterdam-Rijnmond provide an outpatients clinic for Sexally Transmitted Diseases and Aids.

Tuberculosis
The Municipal Public Health Services Rotterdam-Rijnmond offer consultations, including routine chest X-ray and Mantoux tests. Appointments can be made Monday-Friday (except Wednesday) from 08:30-11:00 uur and from 13:30-15:00. For Mantoux tests a second visit is required after 3-5 days.

For Ships at sea
Netherlands Radio Medical Service
The Netherlands Radio Medical Service (RMD) of the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM) is manned by five doctors. They can be reached 24 hours a day for emergencies by means of the Netherlands Coast Guard Centre (KWC) and can make contact within ten minutes.

• Please make non-urgent requests for advice between 06:00 and 20:00 UTC
• The Netherlands Coast Guard Centre can receive calls made by MOBILE (CELLPHONE) on number +31  223  54 25 00 (not free of charge).
• To improve the quality of the Radio Medical Service it is important for the doctor after settlement of the application to receive feedback of the ship concerning the given advice.

VHF (DSC)
Coverage: sea area Netherlands A1
Procedure
• Call the Netherlands Coastguard Centre (NLCG) via VHF DSC channel 70 (MMSI 002442000) and/or VHF channel 16.
• Clearly state your ship’s name, callsign and position, and ask for medical advice.
• The NLCG will direct you to VHF channel 23 or 83.
• Switch to the given working channel and remain on standby while the NLCG puts you through to the RMD doctor on duty.
• The doctor needs clear information. Using the Radio Medical Advice questionnaire (viz. International Medical Guide for Ships) as a guide line will ensure this.

MF (DSC)
Coverage: sea areas Netherlands A1 and A2
Procedure
• Call the Netherlands Coastguard Centre (NLCG) via MF DSC 2187.5 kHz (MMSI 002442000) and switch over to MF 2182 kHz.
• Clearly state your ship’s name, call sign and position, and ask for medical advice.
• The NLCG will assign you a working channel. They transmit on channel 2824 kHz and receive on 2520 kHz or transmit on channel 1890 kHz and receive on 2045, 2048, 2049, 2051, 2054 or 2057 kHz.
• Switch to the given working channel and remain on standby while the NLCG puts you through to the RMD doctor on duty.
• The doctor needs clear information. Using the Radio Medical Advice questionnaire (viz. the International Medical Guide for Ships) as a guide line will ensure this.

INMARSAT B/M/FLEET 77, 55 AND 33 Telephone
Coverage: sea area A3
Procedure
• Contact Stratos by entering code 012, taking care to follow your Inmarsat Terminal instructions. 
• For priority code:
Code 32 = Medical Advice
Code 38 = Medical Evacuation
But remember that the Netherlands Coastguard (NLCG) will leave the decision on whether evacuation is necessary to the RMD doctor!
• Give the NLCG watch officer your ship’s name, call sign, Inmarsat number and position.
• You will be connected to the RMD doctor on duty.
• The doctor needs clear information. Using the Radio Medical Advice questionnaire (viz. the International Medical Guide for Ships) will ensure this.

INMARSAT B/C TELEX
Coverage: sea area A3
Procedure
• Contact Stratos by entering code 012, taking care to follow your Inmarsat Terminal instructions.
• For priority code:
Code 32 = Medical Advice
Code 38 = Medical Evacuation
Code 00 = Non-urgent
But remember that the Netherlands Coastguard (NLCG) will leave the decision on whether evacuation is necessary to the RMD doctor!
• Inmarsat B Telex:
You will be relayed to the RMD computer and will receive the host: MEDIC SERVICE NL
Your host will be called in. Send your message and end with: NNNN
Disconnect but do not switch off the Terminal! The RMD computer will send a reply.
ALWAYS follow the instructions given in these replies.
• Inmarsat C Telex:
You will be relayed to the Store and Forward system of Stratos. Send your message and end with: NNNN. 
Your message will be delivered. You will receive a reply from the doctor.
