Industrial processes in the port of Rotterdam release large quantities of heat, steam and CO2. Heat is just what chemical companies, greenhouse farming and households in the region need. These energy sources can be exchanged cleverly via pipelines. This contributes to a sustainable port and ensures a profitable and sustainable business climate.
Deltaplan Energy Infrastructure
There is huge potential in the existing energy infrastructure systems for expansion and more intensive utilisation. In the Deltaplan Energy Infrastructure, the Port of Rotterdam Authority together with partners focuses on the development of a ‘common carrier’ infrastructure in the port and industrial complex and on opening up access to urban areas and greenhouse areas. In doing so, they promote the reuse of residual heat, steam and CO2.
