The starting signal for ‘Get Ahead in Europe’ was given in Tilburg today. Collaboration partners Logistiek Midden-Brabant and the Port of Rotterdam Authority companies in Asia aim to use this campaign to highlight the advantages of this Dutch axis as efficient gateway to Europe. The launch coincided with the official European opening of the Chengdu-Tilburg-Rotterdam Express, which was attended by a large Chinese delegation.
The train service, an initiative of Tilburg Company GVT-Group of Logistics, has been operational since early 2016 and was officially opened on the Asian side last November. The shuttle makes the journey between Chengdu in China and Rotterdam three times per week. The 15,000-kilometre-long journey takes fifteen days, making the rail connection three times faster than vessel transport and twice as cheap as transport by aircraft. The service is offered by Railport Brabant, in cooperation with Chinese rail operator CDIRS.
Logistiek Midden-Brabant is a platform of businesses, municipalities and knowledge institutes that aim to further strengthen Midden-Brabant’s position as top logistics region in the Netherlands and Europe.
