Global company LT Foods, which specialises in rice and rice products, is coming to Rotterdam. This Indian company, which has branches in more than 65 countries around the world and is renowned for its brands Dawaat and Royal, is to open a branch on Maasvlakte in 2017. The arrival of this prestigious Indian company will reinforce the Rotterdam Food Cluster and create between 70 and 100 new jobs for the city.
The Rotterdam office will be the first European location for LT Foods, whose headquarters are in Delhi. Aditya Arora, Director of LT Foods Europe, says: ‘Opening a European branch is in keeping with our growth strategy and will help us reinforce our position in the sector. We are impressed by everything Rotterdam has to offer and we feel very welcome here.’
The arrival of such a reputable company will help strengthen Rotterdam’s - and the surrounding region’s - trade relations with India. Moreover, it will provide opportunities for attracting more companies from India. India’s economy is on the rise and that rapid growth is expected to continue in the coming years. This means there will be plenty of chances for Dutch trade and industry and for Rotterdam’s businesses. In its partnerships with India, Rotterdam is concentrating on agro-food, life-science & health and the chemical sector.
LT Foods has hired 12,000 square metres of business space in Rotterdam from Prologis, where the company will process unpolished rice which will then be distributed throughout Europe.
We owe the arrival of LT Foods in Rotterdam to an alliance between Rotterdam Partners, the Port of Rotterdam Authority and NFIA (Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency).
