Monday, 27th of February – Kramer Group and the Port of Rotterdam Authority signed an agreement for the creation of a reefer service centre at the former City Terminal in the port of Rotterdam’s Eemhaven area. In addition, Kramer Group will provide a shipping service between Maasvlakte and Eemhaven, mainly for full refrigerated containers (reefers).
A business site of 5.5 hectares and a quay wall of almost 200 metres in length will be available to Kramer Group. For this purpose, the Port of Rotterdam Authority will have a quay for inland shipping vessels built at the site. Kramer Group will discontinue its activities at the old Reeweg and Eemhavenweg locations.
As a replacement for the ‘empty depot’ at Reeweg, Kramer Group will create a reefer service centre that offers a more comprehensive range of services. In addition to repair, cleaning and storage services, inspection and security services will be provided with respect to the refrigerated containers. Kramer Group subsidiaries Seamark Reefer Service and AM-Solution will provide specific services in this regard. In addition to housing an administrative office that handles planning and reporting, the depot will function as a training centre.
Kramer Group’s new activities at the former City Terminal will be very much in keeping with the Port Authority’s efforts to create a multi-user environment in which several logistics service providers, ideally ones that complement each other, jointly use a central road and an entrance. This sharing will result in a considerable amount of synergy. The area will be developed into an efficient and compact multimodal hub for short-sea shipping, inland shipping and rail and road transport. The redevelopment is in part the result of ECT’s departure from City Terminal, a complex of sites along Eemhaven/Beatrixhaven and Willem-Alexanderhaven.
