The jury from fDi Magazine has awarded Oman’s SOHAR Freezone in two 2015 Free Zone of the Year categories: with one commendation for ‘Ease of Access’ and another for ‘Infrastructure Improvements’. DMCC Free Zone has been crowned this year’s global winner.
Jamal Aziz, CEO of SOHAR Freezone, commented in Oman Observer: ‘We are delighted to receive this international recognition for SOHAR Freezone and fDi Magazine certainly did their homework; this past year has seen great progress made in terms of accessibility thanks to huge improvements in our fast growing network of new and uncongested highways; with the recent opening of SOHAR Airport we will soon be able to offer seamless sea-road-air cargo connections in Oman.’
SOHAR Port and Free Zone is one of the fastest growing ports in the world. Situated in Oman, close to the Straits of Hormuz on the Arabian Sea, the port and free zone is located on one of the world’s most important navigation routes. In the free zone companies are greeted by state-of-the-art offices and they receive assistance in getting their businesses up and running quickly. The SOHAR Port and Free Zone is a 50/50 joint venture between the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the government of Oman.
