Dordrecht Inland Seaport Port Development

The Dordrecht port is the most landward sea port in the Netherlands. Here 290 hectares of port area and its adjacent business park are undergoing redevelopment.

The Netherlands’ most landward sea port

The port of Dordrecht is the most landward sea port in the Netherlands. Thanks to its unique situation – in combination with a water depth of 9.45 metres – Dordrecht’s port area is easily accessible for sea-going and inland vessels alike. Moreover, the area has good road and freight rail connections. This combination of factors makes the area exceptionally suited for port-related business activities like the handling of bulk cargo, logistics services and maritime manufacturing. The present redevelopment focuses on expanding the range of port-related activities undertaken in the port area.

Development vision

As the party responsible for operating Dordrecht Inland Seaport, the Port of Rotterdam Authority has drawn up a long-term vision for the area. Besides the expansion of port-related activities in the area, a second key element is encouraging private investments. To this end, the Port Authority will be focusing on the following key targets:

Louterbloemen

Part of the development vision for the Dordrecht port is the redevelopment of Louterbloemen Business Park. This business park was developed in the 1960s and is home to around seventy companies. The Municipality of Dordrecht, BIZ Louterbloemen foundation and the Port of Rotterdam Authority are working together to upgrade the entire business park to become an attractive location for start-ups and maritime manufacturing. The project focuses on redesigning the public space of the business park. The project is expected to be completed at the end of 2017.

Available parcels and premises

In Dordrecht Inland Seaport another few leasehold lots have become available. Talks with potential customers could lead to their further development. Various premises and warehouses are also up for rent and sale.
