The port of Rotterdam is the largest and most state-of-the-art port in Europe. Every day, 193,000 people work here in the most diverse sectors and in all kinds of different and surprising professions. The port of Rotterdam offers a wide array of job opportunities.

This field-trip programme gives pupils the opportunity to explore the port and learn about various occupations here. So, it perfectly suits the Dutch ‘LOB’ system of Career Orientation & Guidance.

Programme

The programme consists of one preparatory lesson at school, which can be given during a mentor hour or a career orientation (LOB) lesson. It includes a guided tour and a visit to Portlantis. The excursion lasts approximately 3.5 hours and costs € 11.50 per person.

This excursion can be expanded, subject to availability, with the following options:

• Company visit to one of around 45 port companies that open their doors to give students a look behind the scenes.
• Boat tour: brief (30 min) at € 275 or extended (60 min) at € 550.
• Lunch: snack & drink of choice at € 6.25 or a lunch box with a sandwich (chicken, lettuce, tomato) , piece of fruit, muffin and mineral water (0.5 ltr) at € 10.25.
