Quantum Communication Fieldlab Rotterdam
The launch of the Quantum Communication Fieldlab Rotterdam marks the next step in the development of quantum-secured communication for critical infrastructure.
On 18 June 2026, Rotterdam will host the launch of the Quantum Communication Fieldlab Rotterdam (QCFR). With this event, the founding consortium partners and strategic partners will mark the next step in the development of quantum-secured communication in Rotterdam and the broader region.
Practical environment
QCFR is being developed as a practical environment where quantum communication can be tested, validated and brought closer to application in critical infrastructure. The fieldlab starts with a focus on QKD-based environments and is aimed at validation, interoperability and operational feasibility.
Next step
QCFR builds on earlier Rotterdam milestones in quantum communication and marks the next step from pilot to practical implementation. In doing so, the fieldlab connects to wider European ambitions around digital resilience, strategic autonomy and trusted connectivity.
