Charging station for electric trucks

How can we help you?

A truck charging station has been realised at the Waalhaven Truck Park. It features 8 charging bays, 2 of which are fast chargers. Drivers of electric trucks can charge their vehicles here during both short and long breaks. The secure truck parks include all the necessary facilities for long and safe stays for both drivers and vehicles.

Location

Waalhaven Truck Park is located at Antonie Bodaanweg 99.

How does it work?

  • Report your arrival using the truck park’s intercom, then drive to the charging station at no cost (e-trucks only).
  • The charging station is located directly to the left by the entrance, and trucks will need to be reversed into position.
  • There are 8 charging bays divided across 5 charging points (3 terminals, each with 2 connectors, and 2 fast chargers, each with 1 connector).
  • The 2 charging bays to the left deliver 360 kW charging capacity, with the other 6 bays each providing max. 180 kW charging capacity.

Charging

  • Follow the instructions on the charging terminal and start the charging session by inserting the charging terminal plug in the truck and allowing the charging terminal to read your payment card (charge card or debit card).
  • Once the charging session is complete, drive to the exit of the truck park and report your departure using the intercom. You may then drive off without having to pay for parking during the charging session.
  • A market charge rate is deducted, which will fluctuate.
  • You may use all the facilities of the secure truck park during your stay.

More charging infrastructure needed

A TNO study commissioned by the Port of Rotterdam Authority (January 2022) shows that around 2,000 electric trucks can be expected in the port area by 2025. This will require around 50 charging points. The ambition is eventually to electrify all 6 secure truck parks in the port area to facilitate the transition to a larger fleet of electric trucks.

Subsidy options

The government is stimulating greater sustainability of the transport sector. In 2024, various subsidy schemes are available:
