Nieuwe Maas closed for shipping on King’s Day
On Thursday, 27 April, King Willem Alexander will celebrate his birthday in Rotterdam. A boat trip along the river is part of the programme. This affects shipping on the Nieuwe Maas and in the Maashaven and Leuvehaven. The Nieuwe Maas will be closed for shipping on Thursday, 27 April from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm. The Maashaven and Leuvehaven will be closed for shipping from Wednesday, 26 April 10.00 am to Thursday, 27 April 2.00 pm. Vessels already berthed there will be allowed to stay.
Stroll
The Royal Family will also take a stroll in Rotterdam on King’s Day to enjoy the hospitality of residents and entrepreneurs. The stroll will start at 11.00 am at the Afrikaanderplein. Via Pretorialaan, the family will walk to the Maashaven. There, they will take a water taxi to the Leuvehaven. From Plein 1940, they will walk across Blaak and through the Markthal to the Binnenrotte where the closing party is.
