Ports of Rotterdam and Shanghai renew cooperation

During the North Bund Forum 2022 in Shanghai, the Port of Rotterdam and the Port of Shanghai renewed the Memorandum of Understanding to further strengthen the sister port relationship.

The opening ceremony of the forum was attended and opened by Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining. Chinese Transport Minister Li Xiaopeng and his Dutch counterpart Mark Harbers, Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, both delivered a video address during the opening ceremony.

In the subsequent session on expanding international cooperation, Allard Castelein, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, and Yu Fulin, director general of the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, signed a Memorandum of Understanding online for further strengthening sister port relations.

The port of Rotterdam and the port of Shanghai are both world-class seaports and have had a sister port relationship since 2005. The two ports have been cooperating for years in port planning, management, environment and efficiency. The ports have agreed to further expand their sister port relationship and pragmatic cooperation on environmental protection and making port processes more efficient.
