Quantity Discount

How can we help you?

The Port of Rotterdam Authority rewards shipping companies that tranship large quantities of cargo in Rotterdam with quantity discounts. The more cargo (in tonnes) a shipping company tranships per year via liner services in the port of Rotterdam, the higher the discount on the seaport dues.

Based on the total volume, the corresponding discount can be found in the table below. The volume is measured in tonnes of cargo and the discount is per customer per year.

Conditions to qualify for quantity discounts

The condition for making use of the volume discount is that a ship of a shipping company must be sailing in a liner service. There are different types of liner services, namely deep sea liner service, short sea liner service and roll-on/roll-off ships in liner service and Ropax ships.

Based on the schedule of shipping companies and the expected transhipment volumes, an estimate will be made of the volume a shipping company will tranship in the port of Rotterdam during that calendar year. The corresponding discount is automatically reflected in the invoices per call. In the final annual settlement it will be checked whether the estimated amount corresponds to the obtained discount and final settlement will take place.
